Black Dog Dance

(An interpretation of human depression)

A subtle beat arouse the dust from the old house
Where the black dog sate
Tail drumming the floor as it awoke from slumber
The windows jingled, a swing was the gate

A youth took a black hand from the shadows
And they danced blind in each other's eyes
For they had lost before and before again
To this black dog dance of their lives

Becoming one with the darkness
In the sills of light and soot of time
Embraced in an intangible abyss
They broke the four legged rhyme

The dust settled on her broken limbs
Where her heart danced for the black dog
Lost in the shadow’s soft hands
Four legs took for the forest fog

To be seen again
To dance again
That black dog dance of life

Train tracks

… And there you were in the parallel world with your hands with faces against glass
And your mouth yelling a silent song for me as I watched with eyes closed shut

The train tracks bent t’ward the skies to take you for a ride
And my superman cape flew after you to bid you my goodbye.

Oh for what is this world but a song sung by two
 Alas one note from your mouth gone forever and forever askew.

Askew, in my dreams, in this world, I long for you...

A Gentlemen Since Tomorrow

He’d been a
Gentlemen since tomorrow,
For now, still a pig,
A tirade of promise
In a pleasantry wig.
As a
Gentlemen since tomorrow,
He cheated antlers from a stag,
Tying them to his head;
Just for the chance to brag.
How this
Gentlemen since tomorrow
Stole a key to the sky,
To rule time of day
And when the end is nigh.’
He is a
Gentlemen since tomorrow
Who not cares the way he moves;
Dancing ‘tween hearts in a
Pair of ornamental hooves.
This
Gentlemen since tomorrow,
Holds cigar in hand,
Selling back lost shadow
Fore you’d ever understand.
A
Gentlemen since tomorrow
Seeks the crowd applause
To forever hold spotlight
Under guise of noble cause.
When a
Gentlemen since tomorrow
Stops you in your path;
The shirtless cry for love
Masks a sardonic laugh,
Know this
Gentlemen since tomorrow,
Is the one who leads the show
Yet behind drawn curtains;
Lives a life of woe.
